Centralization of cleaning equipment

The cleanliness of some of our classrooms has been questionable. This is because some classes lack brooms and dustpans to sweep the floor, whereas other classes often have missing, or damaged brooms. Students have also been observed abusing and tampering with equipment provided by the school for cleaning purposes.

This suggestion seeks to centralize all brooms, dustpans, mops, and rags at a specific location – such as the cleaners quarters (if available) – in contrast to placing a set in each class. Students who are required to conduct classroom cleaning duties would then proceed to this room to loan the equipment when needed, and return after use. The school cleaners would take charge in loaning the brooms to students, and are required to keep tabs on which classes have borrowed the relevant equipment.

Resonance:
After various discussions with various people, Resonance will be contacting the various people involved in the execution of this idea. However, Resonance feels that centralization of cleaning equipment is not necessary and thus would be working on the idea of ensuring cleanliness of all classrooms. Thank you for pointing this out to us, though! =)

Sandwich machine

Maybe you should put up a sandwich machine up at the canteen so those people could buy breakfast at school if they did not have their breakfast at home.

Resonance:
Resonance would be conducting a poll to see the response from the whole student body soon, so do give us your honest opinions on this suggestion when the time comes!

Extension of Back Gate closure timing

I have noticed that the side gate is closed after around 7p.m. and only those teachers and canteen stall operators can access it using their access cards. This can lead to inconvenience for the students who take buses home from the side gate. They will then have to go out the front gate and walk one round back to the bus stops there. This takes up some time and also is a safety concern as that place is dark and deserted at night. I thus suggest these improvements:

-Allow students to exit the school via the side gate from 7 p.m. till 9.30 p.m. Students will not be able to enter unless through the front gate, or if they get someone to open the gate for them.

-Have an intercom there so that students who forgot their access cards/want to enter and cannot find someone who can help them can ask someone to help them.

Resonance:
After much debate on this suggestion with the Student Council, Resonance feels that this suggestion cannot be implemented, reason being that it defeats the purpose of the school advising students to go home earlier. By locking the gate earlier, it acts as an incentive for students to not stay too late in school, thus the implementation of this suggestion would be defeating the purpose of locking the gate at the time the school set it to be. Please understand Resonance’s intentions in not following up this suggestion. Still, thank you for input! =)

School Jacket

Due to the installations of the air conditioning in various places in our school, most of the students bring jackets to school. However, the jackets are all in different colours and design. I hope that our school can come up with a school jacket, just as how we have a school umbrella.

Resonance:
A group of councillors would be setting up a poll soon. In the mean time, please do tell us what you feel about this suggestion in general through the Resonance Poll! We will get back to you as soon as possible on whether or not this suggestion will go through. Thank you! =)

More games on loan and Free For All loaning at all times

Is it possible to add more games for borrowing at the student lounge, as well as allowing students to borrow the games whenever they like?

Resonance:
First of all, please understand the intentions behind having Councilors on duty at the Student Lounge and having the games and sports equipment locked in cupboards. If we do not lock up the games, there is an extremely high chance that games and game pieces would go missing as the result of students bringing the games out of the student lounge or stealing. Secondly, if we do not take note of who borrowed which game, how would we be accountable if any of the games go missing? Lastly, there are more games that would be coming in soon, so do look forward to them! Please refer to the comments received on the Student Lounge for more information on the Student Lounge.

Usage of eSpace as a loaning point

It is possible to use eSpace for booking/reservation of facilities. E.g. the current sports equipment, various sports facilities, classrooms, the usage of musical instruments/ iMac/ laboratory facilities/ visualizer etc.

Resonance:
Resonance would be contacting a group of students who are already working on this suggestion to confirm if they would indeed be working on the completion of a new loaning system on eSpace. Thank you for your suggestion! =)

Yr 5s and 6s should have a slightly different style to distinguish seniors and juniors. The Student Lounge

The Resonance thanks all students for their feedback in the Uniform Poll. The results were very encouraging and the comments that were collected will be dutifully relayed to the School Administration. A copy of the compiled feedback will also be made available for your reference on the Resonance soon.

The Council is intending to propose the establishment of a fully furbished Student Lounge to benefit ALL STUDENTS. The entire process will include the construction and decoration of the venue as well as the day to day running of the event. At meetings we sat down and we discussed how we would want this Student Lounge to be created, how it function on a day to day basis, but ultimately we decided that the Student Lounge belongs to you. It is for your benefit, so you should be the one to decide how it turns out. The Resonance invites any and all students to contribute their comments on the Resonance Board at Lvl 1, Block E outside the Lift Landing. Tell us how you would like your Student Lounge. Would you like cosy cushions, board games, karaoke sets? Would you like pink walls, neon green slippers and black post-its? We won't go ahead till we're sure that it's entirely right, so tell us exactly what you want.

This is your chance to play a pivotal role in the infrastructure of the school. You are now in control. What will be your choice?

NUSHS School Uniform

The Resonance invites students to contribute their opinions on the school uniform. The existing batch of school uniforms are out of print and the school is open to your suggestions before the next batch is printed. For example, are all the gentlemen out there happy with the bermudas, or do you want long pants all the way? Do the ladies have any comments about the culottes? Would you prefer if the school logo was embroidered onto the shirt instead, or would you like to have the polo t-shirts in a different material?

To contribute your comments or obtain more information, visit the Resonance noticeboard at the lift-landing on E Block Lvl 1. All comments made in seriousness will be transmitted to the school on your behalf. This is your call to action. Will you rise to the challenge?

Hot Water Dispenser

Many a times, we want cool water on hot days. That is why we have water-coolers.

What if we want hot water on cool days? Or that we particularly want hot water for other reasons?

Resonance has tuned in to students’ comments, and hence proposed for a hot-water dispenser. The hot-water dispenser is located in the canteen, beside the chicken rise stall. We hope that students will get to benefit from this new service for your welfare.

Network Printers

Having an urgent document to be printed?

This has been a problem raised by the student population not too long ago. Resonance committee, in cooperation with the Student Initiatives Committee of the NUS High Student Council, has addressed such an issue.

This issue was brought up and addressed.

The solution? Network Printers!

The IT department has kindly accepted the suggestion and set up our very own Network Printers in school. Please refer to the (Resonance Website or) eSpace for more details and instructions.

We do hope to have more suggestions and help you make Life@Campus a greater one.
